Comments Sought on CenturyLink Issues, Stambaugh Says
HARRISBURG – As the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission’s Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement looks into power outages and unreliable service offered by CenturyLink during and after Hurricane Ida, the commission is seeking comments on a proposed settlement with the utility, according to Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Cumberland), who has been advocating for improved service in rural communities.
Stambaugh filed a formal complaint in cooperation with Sens. Judy Ward (R-Blair/Huntingdon/Fulton/Franklin/Cumberland) and John DiSanto (R-Dauphin/Perry) in September 2021. He did so after talking with constituents who experienced weeks-long telephone outages, ongoing maintenance issues and inadequate service.
“CenturyLink placed blame on hurricane-caused flooding at its Philadelphia offices, which is ridiculous because those offices are quite far from the company’s franchised service territory,” Stambaugh said. “I hear often not only from families whose service is disrupted, but also from first responders who cannot get CenturyLink to promptly respond to downed wires and poles.”
